The Parent Cooperative at The Montessori Academy recognizes that family support and education are integral to successful programs. The Montessori Academy requires that all families understand and embrace Montessori philosophy and principles. Montessori Academy families are involved in the ongoing support of the school's programs. Parent Education is critical to the success of our Academy and is not an option. Each family is committed to learning more about Montessori methods and curriculum and strives to support and maintain all aspects of our programs. Our families recognize that home and school work together in synchrony to insure each child's healthy development and happiness.
The involvement of our parents and families is a critical ingredient to the success of our programs here at The Montessori Academy. Although our faculty are the experts in the Montessori philosophy and methodology and responsible for any program-related issues, etc., there are many other exciting opportunities available throughout the year that welcome family participation and input.
In order to motivate our families to become more actively involved, we have built in a co-op fee incentive. This incentive of $200, paid at the time of application, is reimbursed at a maximum rate of $10/co-op hour invested, for up to 20 hours. Since any given "job" varies in complexity, the rate of reimbursement is adjusted accordingly.
The following is a sample list of co-op job opportunities. The Montessori Academy, of course, is always open to suggestions and fresh ideas; therefore, if you have a special talent that you would like to share, please let out Co-op Coordinator know, and a reimbursement rate for your time will be calculated accordingly.
- Field trip drivers/chaperones
- Baking for class parties/parent events
- Telephone calls
- Sewing projects for classrooms
- Laminating, cutting, coloring materials

In the event any project requires purchasing of materials, separate receipts should be submitted for reimbursement by the school.
To be reimbursed for contributions made, parents must fill out a "Co-Op Reimbursement Form*" and submit it, along with any receipts, if applicable, to our Co-Op Coordinator. Reimbursement checks will be distributed at the end of each month.
We look forward to your involvement and a cooperative working and educating relationship.
